How does one get into the animation field?
I want to be able to create my own cartoons eventually. I love the unique worlds such as Cowboy Bebop, or Aeon Flux… and I want to know how to get a job like that.

I graduated from art college several years ago. AAC in the bayarea. If you don’t know anyone who’s in animation field, you can try to present your idea and art work to the teachers in art school. Most of teachers in my school are not professional educator but professional artist. Such as most teachers who is teaching animation may from the big film company. Some of them fly from LA to give us class everyweek.
I thought you may start from their if you go some good stuff. But if you really got some great stuff, be careful with who you deal with. We had sign the contract that all our works belong to school when we were. I have known there some teachers keep student’s idea become their own…

Christians; how do you feel about "Closer to God" ?
People usually refer to this song as "that f***-you-like-an-animal song", and I find that an unfair label. Yes it’s got the line in it, but there’s so much more to the song than just that. It’s degrading. It would be like calling Christianity "that Jesus cult" and ignoring everything else about Christianity.

To understand the song completely you need to know the context. "The Downward Spiral" tells the sad tale of a man aptly named Mr. Self Destruct as he falls prey to depression, going into his own downward spiral that eventually leads to suicide. He tries to find meaning to his life and the world around him, but nothing works. Some of the routes he tries and ideas he questions are rampant abuse of Authority (cops), Religion, sex, finding God, Guns, Drugs, Self-inflicted Injuries, Masochism, (I think he tries homosexuality but I could be wrong), a female companion. Nothing works.

Finally he realizes the only way to fix his life is to put the gun up to his head and pull the trigger. A lifetime of screwing things up fixed. And everything is blue.

.. My point is "Closer" is a chapter in this man’s self-destruction, and not just some cheezy line horny frat-boys use at mixers. I would still like to know your thoughts on the song.

Wow.
I love that song, I wish I’d known the context before.

Heartbreaking…in a really hot, fingers in the air, moshpits and leather kinda way.

Lookout, The
Lookout, The (2007)

IMDB rating: 7.40

Plot: An admired high school hockey player (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) with a bright future foolishly takes a drive in the night with his girl friend and two other friends with his headlights off with devastating results. The former athlete is left with a brain injury that prevents him from remembering many things for extended periods of time. To compensate, he keeps notes in a small notebook to aid him in remembering what he is to do. He also lives with a blind friend (Jeff Daniels) who aids him. Obviously, with the mental incapacitation, he is unable to have meaningful work. Thus he works as a night cleaning man in a bank. It is there he comes under the scrutiny of a gang planning to rob the bank. The leader (Matthew Goode) befriends him and gets him involved with a young woman (Isla Fisher) who further reels him in. After they get close and after reeling him in with his own failures, the bank plan unfolds. Confused but wanting to escape his current existence, he initially goes along with the scheme. After realizing he is being used, he attempts to stop the robbery, which of course immediately goes awry. Bruce McGill and Alberta Watson also co-star as the young man’s parents, who still search for the person that was there before the tragic crash.

my dad will only let me shower 2 days in a week. please help me. :( i cant stop crying.?
okay well we have two showers in our house. one in the masters and one in a guest shower. the one that i use the guest one has been weird lately. there is like hot water for only 10 minutes. the master shower always has hot water. i used to showers in the masters and i would take about 20 minutes the most. yesterday i took a shower in the guest bathroom and there was only enough hot water to wash and condition my hair with. i complained and asked if i could use the masters he said no. i have to use the cold water till im done. i spent 45 minutes in there. turning it on and off. hoping there would be hot water. there was none. i showered in freezing water. and its 45 degrees outside. i was cold. now my head and entire body hurts. anyways.. when i get out the shower and get dressed he said from today you will only shower 2 times a week. it was sunday … so i cant shower mondays or tuesdays. i can shower wednesdays not thursdays fridays or saturdays. and again on sundays. i couldnt stop crying. how can a teenage girl only shower 2 times a week. i mean i get periods. i workout in gym and at home. im going to sweat and stink. i have given up gym at school. and wont dress out wich means i get a failing grade. i wont workout at home wich means i wont lose weight & ill gain a lot more back. i dont know what to do. this just isnt fair. when i take a shower in the masters bathroom it has hot water and the most i take is 20 minutes. and he always says i always take 1 hour 30 min. in the shower. i dont. i mean i have to wash and get clean. my mom isnt doing anything about it either. it hurts so much. what am i supposed to do?
i dont wanna go to the social workers. its gong to tear my family apart. i have two little sisters. i dont want anything happening to them. my dad does abuse us though. me mostly. it seems like lately he has been finding the smallest things to colmpain about on me. idk what to do. i dont think anyone loves me. i just wish i was never born… i really do. i dont have any relatives in the u.s who can help out either…..
i just hate my life.
another thing. he wont listen to me. at all. and i cant sneak a shower because he is always home. im just so lost and depressed right now.

just tell him

Promise to take 10 minute showers? (maybe if you’re really quick and waste no time)
That seems harshly irrational, though, his decision! There are always school showers, but that may be not an option if you have an issue with the privacy.
Excited | Feb 08, 2010

I been through the same thing except i was only allowed to shower once a week . it was me, my sis, and my brother.. but it was only me and my sis that was being abused we had to steal for food and i am sorry to say its only going to get worse and yea you don’t want to go to DHHR but its not going to get better I wish and prayed for 6 years and it didnt til finally I got tooken away and to be honest its hard to trust DHHR in a way as well just because they go to the parents and it all gets worse til finally after so many pleas they believe so I am not sure as to tell you what to do from me being in that sitauation al you can mainly do is pray i hoped this has helped you a lil bit

I know you don’t want to tear your family apart but you can’t live like that.Once your sisters get older he’ll be doing the same things to them too. It most likely going to get worse. Your mom seems to be the Type that takes her lover’s side before her children’s.

You might not want to go to social workers but it’s the best choice. You should also tell your school counselor.Who knows you may be sent to stay with your relatives in a different country. Your father is abusive. YOU CAN’T LIVE LIKE THAT. It’s not good for you or your sisters. You’re the oldest you should do what you must to protect them and you.

Once you’re 18 or older and have a stable household you may be able to have your sisters to come live with you it you all split up.

Things will only get worse from here so you should stop it now.

There is the choice you can go stay with friends.IF a social worker AND your friend’s parents agree to it.

I know it hurts but once you do something about it, the pain will lessen. Don’t stay living with an abusive parent.
Sanity | Feb 08, 2010

My old school had showers (but we never got to use them) I’m MORE THAN SURE that if your school has them you can privately tell your gym teacher what the problem is and ask if you can start taking showers. Don’t be embarrassed. It isn’t your fault.
This is awful. I’m so sorry. If you have any friends, you could talk to them and their parents and explain to them what is going on. Someone will let you take showers until your father stops this nonsense.

Sweetie if you ever want to talk, I’m here for you.

Sounds like the guest bathroom has a separate hot water tank and one of the elements are burned out.Turn the power and water off to it and replace the element, you’ll need to drain the tank first. It is usually the top element.

Contradiction #79 Apart from Jesus did anyone else ascend to heaven? (a) No (John 3:13). (b) Yes. "And Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven" (2 Kings 2:11).

Contradiction #84 What was the purpose for which the women went to the tomb? (a) To anoint Jesus’ body with spices (Mark 16:1;Luke 23:55 to 24:1). (b) To see the tomb. Nothing about spices here (Matthew 28:1). For no specified reason. In this gospel the wrapping with spices had been done before the sabbath (John 20:1).
Contradiction #85 A large stone was placed at the entrance of the tomb. Where was the stone when the women arrived? (a) They saw that the stone was "Rolled back" (Mark 16:4). They found the stone "rolled away from the tomb" (Luke 24:2). They saw that "the stone had been taken away from the tomb" (John 20:1) (b) As the women approached, an angel descended from heaven, rolled away the stone, and conversed with the women. Matthew made the women witness the spectacular rolling away of the stone (Matthew 28:1-6).
Contradiction #86 Did anyone tell the women what happened to Jesus’ body? (a) Yes. "A young man in a white robe" (Mark 16:5). "Two men… in dazzling apparel" later described as angels (Luke 24:4 and 24:23). An angel – the one who rolled back the stone (Matthew 16:2). In each case the women were told that Jesus had risen from the dead (Matthew 28:7; Mark 16:6; Luke 24:5 footnote). (b) No. Mary met no one and returned saying, "They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him" (John 20:2).
Contradiction #87 When did Mary Magdelene first meet the resurrected Jesus? And how did she react? (a) Mary and the other women met Jesus on their way back from their first and only visit to the tomb. They took hold of his feet and worshiped him (Matthew 28:9). (b) On her second visit to the tomb Mary met Jesus just outside the tomb. When she saw Jesus she did not recognize him. She mistook him for the gardener. She still thinks that Jesus’ body is laid to rest somewhere and she demands to know where. But when Jesus said her name she at once recognized him and called him "Teacher." Jesus said to her, "Do not hold me… " (John 20:11 to 17).
Contradiction #88 What was Jesus’ instruction for his disciples? (a) "Tell my brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see me" (Matthew 28:10). (b) "Go to my brethren and say to them, I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God" (John 20:17).
Contradiction #89 When did the disciples return to Galilee? (a) Immediately, because when they saw Jesus in Galilee "some doubted" (Matthew 28:17). This period of uncertainty should not persist. (b) After at least 40 days. That evening the disciples were still in Jerusalem (Luke 24:33). Jesus appeared to them there and told them, "stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high" (Luke 24:49). He was appearing to them "during forty days" (Acts 1:3), and "charged them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise…" (Acts 1:4).

Contradiction #91 Who brought Joseph to Egypt? (a) The Ishmaelites bought Joseph and then "took Joseph to Egypt" (Genesis 37:28). (b) "The Midianites had sold him in Egypt" (Genesis 37:36). Joseph said to his brothers "I am your brother, Joseph, whom you sold into Egypt" (Genesis 45:4).

(b) No. God "will not lie or repent; for he is not a man, that he should repent" (1 Samuel 15:29). (c) Yes. "And the Lord repented that he had made Saul King over Israel" (1 Samuel 15:35). Notice that the above three quotes are all from the same chapter of the same book! In addition, the Bible shows that God repented on several other occasions: I. The Lord was sorry that he made man (Genesis 6:6). "I am sorry that I have made them" (Genesis 6:7) ii."And the Lord repented of the evil which he thought to do to his people" (Exodus 32:14).

Then comes the following feat: (a) Moses and Aaron converted all the available water into blood (Exodus 7:20-21). (b) The magicians did the same (Exodus 7:22). (b) No. True Christians cannot possibly sin, because they are the children of God. Every one who believes that Jesus is the Christ is a child of God … (1 John 5:1). "We should be called children of God; and so we are" (1 John 3:1). "He who loves is born of God" (1 John 4:7). "No one born of God commits sin; for God’s nature abides in him, and he cannot sin because he is born of God" (1 John 3:9). But, then again, Yes! "If we say we have no sin we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us" (1 John 1:8).
Contradiction #97 Who will bear whose burden? (a) "Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ" (Galatians 6:2). (b) "Each man will have to bear his own load" (Galatians 6:5).
Contradiction #98 How many disciples did Jesus appear to after his resurrection? (a) Twelve (1 Corinthians 15:5). (b) Eleven (Matthew 27:3-5 and Acts 1:9-26, see also Matthew 28:16; Mark 16:14 footnote; Luke 24:9; Luke 24:33).
Contradiction #99 Where was Jesus three days after his baptism? (a) After his baptism, "the spirit immediately drove him out into the wilderness. And he was in the wilderness forty days…" (Mark 1:12-13). (b) Next day after the baptism, Jesus selected two disciples. Second day: Jesus went to Galilee – two more disciples. Third day: Jesus was at a wedding feast in Cana in Galilee (see John 1:35; 1:43; 2:1-11).
Contradiction #100 Was baby Jesus’s life threatened in Jerusalem? (a) Yes, so Joseph fled with him to Egypt and stayed there until Herod died (Matthew 2:13 – 23). (b) No. The family fled nowhere. They calmly presented the child at the Jerusalem temple according to the Jewish customs and returned to Galilee (Luke 2:21-40).
Contradiction #101 When Jesus walked on water how did the disciples respond? (a) They worshiped him, saying, "Truly you are the Son of God" (Matthew 14:33). (b) "They were utterly astounded, for they did not understand about the loaves, but their hearts were hardened" (Mark 6:51-52).

Alright already! Enough! You made you’re point with the first five. OK some of the things you cited may or may not be talking about the same thing. One thing Archaeologists and Historians (and anyone who reads the Old Testament) know is that Israel was ALWAYS at war. It’s difficult to prove which people were talking about the SAME war. And numbers are exaggerated in the Bible all the time. One thing to keep in mind when you read the Bible (especially the Old Testament) is that they were prophets trying to convince people that they are right and they over-exaggerate what they believe is righteous. Example: Some pagan country was attacking Israel so Israel gathered say 500 troops. Later on they would say 1000 troops were used.

The New Testament was written by several different people decades after the fact. It’s difficult for many people to agree on everything under the same circumstances. And again it’s difficult to prove if your contradictions are even talking about the exact same situation.

Holy moley!

There is a simple answer for your incredibly long question. The Bible was written by men, and men are with flaws, so the Bible is not concrete. But faith is.

Although this is a hard one, I actually think they picked right on this one. That rape scene with Jodie Foster..I liked that her character wasn’t necessarily super-likeable. She had issues for sure, but you wanted her to get justice.
